Ride

Grand Tour of Georgia
Boxer

Registration just opened on Mar 1 for the 2021 GTGA. It is an annual benefit ride and the challenges take you all over Georgia between April 1 and sometime in November. Last year it was covered bridges. Not sure what the theme is this year. I don't have my booklet yet. Its a lot of fun! The Facebook page for the ride is at:

To go straight to Ride Master for registration and sign up, go to: https://rides.jasonjonas.com/

Once signed up, you will receive the ride booklet in the mail with the list of all the challenges, locations, GPS points, etc.

Phil,

Thanks for the heads-up.

I did the Grand Tour last year. All solo and all on my new to me 2002 R1150GS. It was a great way to have a little purpose to my desire to get out out of covid jail. With this and other trips I ended up putting 6,000+ miles on that bike last year, with a few hundred intown on my Gran Canyon as well - the GS is not a bike for running errands.

I've just registered for the 2021 event. Happy trails!

Mapped out in detail tonight what I think will be my first big trip of the 2021 Grand Tour. Captures 13 of the tour stops. Just under 1,000 miles with no more than 80 miles on Interstates. Atlanta W to Carrollton, S to Thomasville, NE to Savannah, WNW back to Atlanta. Easy three days, but possible in two days without too much pushing. Thinking late April if there’s a stretch of friendly weather.

Also sketched out a second trip that captures seven other tour stops. Basically Atlanta, Augusta, Helen, Atlanta. 450 miles or so. Expect that will be later in the year.

Both probably GS trips, but might use my ST3s on the Augusta route. We’ll see.

Good luck with that ride Mark. I may have to try this one day. Happy Trails.
