2019 BMW MOA Rally in TN. Who's going? When?
Author Last Post
There are a few rides posted on the MOA forum
https://forums.bmwmoa.org/showthread.php?95192-Day-Rides-for-2019-Rally
I'm looking to go up Friday afternoon and return early Sunday since it's Fathers Day.  That said,  I do have an unexpected issue pending that may prevent me from leaving Friday so If I ride up really early Saturday, I'd want to attend the event for a short time, then ride on some of the local routes.  Do you or anyone know of the route maps they'll be posting?  I recall during the last rally I attended several years ago that there were maps posted for everyone to select from, but so far I haven't found anything.  Thoughts?  Suggestions?

Scott and I were planning to head up through Chattanooga. If we leave at 10, (mostly to avoid Atlanta commute traffic)  it would be a more direct route - mostly slab with a BBQ stop along the way.  If we leave earlier, the route could be more off the beaten path.  There's still time to adjust the route -but we'd have to know if you're planning to meet us.

Geoff you were talking about meeting up at Atlanta BMW. I am from the Marietta area. What is your route?

Anyone else from the west side please chime in on routes.

I made it back from VA, thru the stormfront wasn't so much fun. No such thing as waterproof in that kind of rain...
I'm up for leaving Thurs AM.
Sorry you cant make it but I'm  sure I'll see you at a club ride to eat or other activity this summer. Maybe later this month at TWoS?

Excellent.  Look forward to catching up with you. See you at the beer tent at the rally for the meet-up on Friday for a group dinner.

David Will and I are leaving Cumming at 5:00 a.m. Thursday morning!  We will take 20 to 372 to 575 to 136 to I-75.  Then slab it to C'Nooga, by-pass via I-75 to the NE and then pick up back roads all the way to Lebanon.  We've got it mapped out and are wanting to get their early to get set up, relax and start enjoying the festivities.  DW has a 4:00 p.m. appointment to add a farkle to his GS (it's a surprise).  If anyone is interested in joining us on the ride up, let me know.

Since I missed our GA rally, I will go to this one.   Will spend Thurs night with my sister in Murfreesboro, then arrive early Friday at the Rally to select a camping spot.

Tom:

I think there are a few main reasons people go to the MOA rally.

Riding is probably the first one, whether it is the ride to/from the rally, or the riding in the local area of the rally.

Camaraderie is another good reason.  I found that the vast majority of attendees were very easy to engage with and simply loved talking motorcycles, sharing tips on great places to ride or farkles to add to their bike. Its like how people on vacation seem less crabby than the general population.

Lesser, but not unimportant include the vendors, seminars and demo rides.  I bought new tires and had them installed while I attended seminars and did demo rides.  You can demo every bike without any sales pressure. I also like to see farkles before I install them on my bike and that is the limitation of internet purchases from a youtube video.  So the vendors will have everything out on display.

My take on Lebanon is that the location is so close that it's really like a club weekend ride with 5000 good friends.   So it's low risk, close-by and will be fun even if most of the time is spent riding around with other club members.

Bruce:

Good to hear you can make it.  Email me if you might be interested in going into Nashville Friday night for some BBQ, country music and perhaps a bar fight or two.  We'd just be instigating the bar fights,  so park your GS close to the saloon door.

I keep trying to come up with a valid reason to attend.  I went to one a few years ago but I'm not able to think of a good reason to go again.  If you have been to a previous National, what's the draw to attend again.
