Most of these depots where once centers of activity in their respective towns. Since the concrete slab replaced the iron rails, most no longer serve their original purpose. Even though most were initially allowed to deteriorate many have found renewed life. The Gainesville and Toccoa stations are part of the Amtrak system. Many are now community centers; Athens seems the best example of this. Others now house businesses ranging from feed and seed to printing to restaurants; one is now a motorcycle shop. Below are some of the depots I have visited. Your challenge is to try and visit 50 depots with at least one depot for each letter of the alphabet. You don't have to get one beginning with "Q" or "X" since there may not actually be a train depot beginning with those two letters. And in order to get the award, you must do that in one calendar year or less.
