Hello everyone! I’m Les and I’m new here. I’ve been riding Honda cruisers for about 20 years, but I got the itch to try something new. I wanted to slowly make my way into some (mild) adventure riding with a long goal of making my way to Deadhorse, AK and back. My wife is from North Pole, AK, so I know a little about what I might get into…I hope :) I’ve bought my first BMW and decided to start with the F800GS so I could get acclimated to the height and riding style. I imagine I will upgrade a bit before trying to make the longer runs, but who knows!

I’m from south Dekalb originally but have lived in Conyers for the past 25 years or so. I have ridden solo for most of my riding life, so being in a group of folks like this is new to me. This is also my first time joining a motorcycle club. I am excited to get to know this bunch and share in this community. Looking forward to meeting and riding with you folks!

Hi Don, thanks for the welcome! I think you live quite near my in-laws (Lois & Bill A. on Sandstone Pl). Lois walks her Sheltie down your way regularly, so you may already know each other. Small world...

I'll sheepishly admit that I don't actually know about 90% of the folks on my FB friends list. I went on an "Add Friend" spree ~10yrs ago with the sole intent of promoting my business (psychotherapy private practice). It was apparently quite a spree, as I ended up w/ over 1k on my list. So it's possible the mutual friends may scratch their heads at the mention of my name.

I hope your healing is going well. I'm planning to get to as many group events as I can, so feel free to hit me up if you'd like to ride. I put less than 1k miles on my Zero in more years than I'd like to admit, so I'm hoping to reverse that trend!

Hi, Todd. Glad you have made the connection with the Georgia Club. It's active enough if you want to have someone plan routes and activities with group rides. The annual Georgia Mountain Rally up in Hiawassee is a must-do in early May.

I am also in Athens. Eastside in Cedar Creek. My riding is mostly (well 99+%) solo. However, I do cross paths with group activities where I can triangulate and join them from here. If I located your Facebook page correctly, you and I have at least five mutual friends.

I've been off my bike now for 6+ weeks as I continue to heal and recover from my latest surgery. But, it is kinda hot now and I'm not missing riding so much although I am aware that riding skills are perishable. I'll be up again soon.

I look forward to meeting you sometime around Athens or via a Club activity.

Hey Todd, Welcome! Hope to see you at one of our events. I actually like the cooler weather. wear some decent layers and it feels pretty good. Also, using heated gear allows for some pretty wide ranges in temps. Cheers! Ian

Hi everyone, new member here. I’m a native Atlantan, been in Athens for last 10+ yrs. Long term fan of all things german automotive (Beemer and Bimmer), although my last bike was a Zero DS. Electric was fun, but I eventually decided I wanted something with more range. Currently riding a 2023 F750GS - the low suspension option works great with my shorty legs! Beemer history includes R1200R, F650CS, & K75. 

I look forward to being involved and going on some rides. Having said that, I’m not too proud to admit being a fair-weather rider… I seem to have a near infinite tolerance for heat, but get cold starting in the 60’s. 😜

Hi, I'm Roger Easley and moved to this area (Flowery Branch) 2 years ago. I bought my first BMW just last year (2007 1200 Sport). I've owned many bikes in my long lifetime. My most recent was a Ducati 1100 Mulistrada. See my bio for more info.

I'm retired and looking for one or more riding buddies in my area. I like curvy roads and detest city traffic and the interstate except for necessity.

I sometimes wear a high vis orange rain jacket with the Harley logo, so don't get bent out of shape over that. My BMW jacket isn't high vis.

New member Skip here. Bought my first BMW in October with a Fly N ride from Minnesota and it's a 2018 GSA Rallye. I'll be attending my first club ride this Saturday.

Welcome, Jim. Just realized Bostwick is not too far from Athens. I like your RT. Mine is a '17 model that is not accumulating as many miles this year as over the past several. Health issues keep me sidelined. What direction(s) do you ride when you head out?

I am retired, but have an intermittent weekday on-call job with Hertz RentACar in Athens. Is your PDK job good cross-training for your RT? Bet so, just closer to the ground....

Good plan..., that thing about purchasing a motorcycle.  My 1st bike (pre-owned 2007 1200RT) was a key element of my pre-retirement planning in 2007.   Enjoyed that one so much that at around 85K miles I traded for a new 2017 RT. It just clicked over 36K.

You are joining a great group of people.  Attend some meetings, rides and food events.  Meet a few people and ride.  Perfect time of year!
