Middle GA RidesRoutes?
Author Last Post

Hi Larry,

I'm in a similar situation. I live in Moreland, GA and ride solo for the same reasons as you. There's just no one down here that rides adventure type bikes. I have a 2019 F750GS which was my choice for a smaller, lower, lighter bike. At 67 and 4 months past a hip replacement, it fits me perfectly.

I typically ride around the Pine Mtn. area but it's getting pretty boring riding alone. We aren't terribly far from each other. Let me know if you want to plan to meet somewhere in the middle and ride.

I'm in the BMWMOGA group on FB also if you want to reach out that way.

Best Regards,

Bruce

Don - Thanks for the great info. I have a 2016 R1200RT and just picked up an R1300GS Adventure. Open to just about any ride type or destination, except I no longer ride the "expert" sections off-road, at 65 and overweight, I confine myself to fire roads and two-tracks, maybe the occasional single track, on the GS. I've been riding since I was around 13, but my BMW life started in '09 with an R1200R.

I hope to meet you and many other club members soon, and am looking forward to the GA Mtn Rally.

Hi, Larry!

Welcome to the BMWMOGA club. Thank you for tossing your hat into the ring with other members. Many are long-term members while other are new to the club and/or actually may be somewhat new to riding.

If you do a Member Directory query you'll notice most of the membership is located in the north Atlanta area and that's where the majority of planned rides originate. I did a 75 mile search around Warner Robins and you appear to be the lone member..... I am in Athens and only rarely get to "meet up and ride with a group" even from Atlanta. More often, I will triangulate and rendezvous at a destination for group lunch if anything.

So, you may need to lean on and pull from other riders more knowledgeable than myself to suggest routes and roads and interesting locations which I would not know about. Perhaps a few other members will chime-in with ideas and thoughts which would be helpful.

HOWEVER, I note you have already registered for the Georgia Mountain Rally coming up in early May. Excellent! Come up early and tent camp or book a motel room and invest yourself in meeting other riders. There will be group rides of various types which will be planned. Take advantage of everything and just meet people!

Perhaps others from the club will also respond to your desire to get ideas. One thing, you might add another reply to include general details about your motorcycling experience/s, your preferred riding style, make of bike you ride, etc. Often, you'll strike up a conversation and find commonalities. Me? I'm a bit older and on my second R1200RT, but actually have not been riding but 17 years as I did not even start till the age of 60. I did not grow up on or around motorcycles. Most of my riding has been solo or with very small groups.

You may notice this FORUM is not often an active discussion board. Just a fact of the times.

Another option (if your are on Facebook) is to join the BMW Motorcycle Club of GA facebook page. There you will see and can plug into online discussions, more thoughts on upcoming events and opportunities and rides. It seems to be more timely with information and everyone learns from and with others. Post your own thoughts and questions and you may be surprised at the responses you receive.

Again, welcome to the club and I will make a point of meeting you in Hiawassee!

Hello - I'm new to the club and live in Warner Robins, which will limit my involvement in club activities. I have signed up for the Georgia Mtn Rally and hope to meet many members there.

Can anyone suggest or provide routes for interesting rides in middle Georgia? Road or ADV, just looking to explore the area and find some interesting roads, paved or otherwise.

Thanks,

Larry Benitz
