Ride details for Friday trip to Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge.
First part north from Alpharetta via Dawsonville, Ellijay, and McCaysville to Tellico Plains for gas, gas station snacks (no sit down dining on this trip) and a stretch. Next via TN360 and Vonore onto Hwy72/US129 south to the foot of “The Dragon.” Then to Iron Horse via Fontana, or if the consensus determines, via Robbinsville. If time is tight we might take the Cherohala Skyway from Tellico Plains to Robbinsville as this will save about 30 minutes ride time. Second gas stop option in Fontana or Robbinsville as suits.
The route to Tellico Plains is red on the map below/attached, as is the route from there onto Iron Horse. The Robbinsville alternative after The Dragon is shown in blue. The Cherohala Skyway section of that alternative after Tellico Plains is shown in green.
We will leave the Quick Trip at 3190 Old Milton Parkway on the eastside of Ga. 400 Exit 10 on Friday, with kickstands up at 11:00 a.m.
There’s the possibility of a meet up point in East Ellijay around 12:15 p.m. for anyone wanting to join from the west side. If that’s you, you’ll need to let me know in plenty of time to coordinate (log in for contact details).
