The Ironhorse weekend event of October 14-16 is the primary activity for the club this month, so this weekend’s official ride was cancelled. My wife Daniela and I aren’t able to go to Ironhorse and still wanted to ride this Saturday. We are planning to ride up to Clayton from Athens, leaving around 8 AM on Saturday morning, the 8th and ride the Scaly Mountain, Burrell’s Ford, Warwoman Road dual sport loop that we downloaded from the club website.
We would like to invite you (all y’all) to join us. Weather forecast looks perfect.
Plan is as follows:
- Leave Athens around 8 AM, location Shell station at 1790 Commerce Rd (Hwy 441)
- Meet at Ingles in Clayton, where some other members may be meeting up with us. Kickstands up at 10.
- Ride to Highlands together on tarmac. Stop for lunch at Mountain Fresh Grocery.
- Split to road and dual sport ride. GSers ride Burrell's Ford Rd. Rest down Hwy 28.
- Quick stop at end of loop when we return to 441. Ride back to Athens or wherever the road calls.
- I believe we can be back in Athens around 5.
