We met at 11 at The Last Resort Grill in Athens. Despite a distinct lack of degrees, (only 40°when I left Roswell, coulda used another 10 or 15), it was a pleasant ride for most of us. Many thanks to Erika and Don Flowers who live in Augusta and were kind enough to get to the restaurant early to hold our spot in case of hiccups on the way.

Speaking of hiccups, about halfway to Athens, Geoff encountered a flat rear tire. He pulled safely to the side of the road but unfortunately the flat was not fixable since it was located at the valve stem. However, as a testament to how helpful BMW riders are, every BMW rider that passed along the road stopped and offered help. Don Loudermilk pulled over and called Kyle Campbell, owner of Hourglass Cycles,BMW Dealer in Buford, GA . As luck would have it, Kyle was available and he hooked his motorcycle trailer up to his truck and came to the rescue.  Kyle hauled Geoff's GS to his shop where Geoff was able to get a new rear tire mounted and balanced and was back on the road in the afternoon.  Talk about excellent customer service-thanks a million Kyle & staff at Hourglass Cycles!!

Geoff also offered special thanks to Nalin Jayatilak, who also pulled over to offer help and pass the time until help arrived . That is the real spirit of the Club -members helping other members.

Lunch was superb. The food at The Last Resort Grill is considered among the very best in the city, and has been delicious both times I've eaten there. It is very popular, and there was a line waiting to get in when the doors opened for lunch at 11. Although the restaurant does not accept reservations in general, we were able to arrange to have a very large table set aside for the Club where we could all sit together.

About 20 members attended and there were lots of interesting conversations up and down the table. Afterwards, various groups took off on rides all over the area, many headed to the various covered bridges. Three of us headed out Hog Mountain Rd for a jaunt around the countryside, and with the mercury hovering in the low 50's had a relaxed and scenic afternoon.

Plans were announced for the Club Christmas party on Friday Dec 15 at Buca di Beppo in Alpharetta. It is just off Ga 400 and easy to find, so please make plans to join us. It's a casual and eccentrically decorated Italian place with good food served family-style, and I don't think anyone has ever left that place hungry. Details are on the Club website for both the Christmas party and the annual Toy Run the following day. Hope to see you there!
